June has been a memorable month for Actors Federal Credit Union, as we had the privilege of attending two inspiring events that celebrated excellence, legacy, and the enduring impact of the performing arts.
On June 16, 2026, Actors FCU was honored to attend the unveiling of the bronze bust of James Earl Jones at the James Earl Jones Theatre. Hosted by the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences, the ceremony paid tribute to one of the most influential and beloved artists of our time. The permanent installation serves as a lasting reminder of Jones' extraordinary contributions to Broadway, film, television, and generations of audiences worldwide.
One of the most moving moments of the event came from Flynn Earl Jones, whose heartfelt reflections offered a deeply personal perspective on the man behind the legendary career. His words reminded everyone in attendance that beyond the iconic voice and celebrated achievements was a father, mentor, and inspiration whose influence continues to resonate throughout the arts community.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences, The Shubert Organization, and Black Theatre United for their vision and dedication in creating such a meaningful tribute. Their efforts ensure that James Earl Jones' remarkable legacy will continue to inspire future generations of artists and storytellers.
Just one week later, on June 22, 2026, Actors FCU attended the Actors’ Equity Foundation Annual Awards Ceremony in New York City. Hosted by acclaimed actress Julie Halston, the evening celebrated the exceptional achievements of theatre professionals whose talent, dedication, and artistry continue to enrich the performing arts.
The ceremony recognized outstanding artists selected by panels from within the creative community, honoring performers, stage managers, and advocates whose work has strengthened the theatre industry. Among the recipients were Linda Emond and Ruben Santiago-Hudson, who received the Richard Seff Award; McKenzie Kurtz and Ali Louis Bourzgui, recipients of the Clarence Derwent Award; and McKinley Belcher III and Olivia Reis, recipients of the Joe A. Callaway Award. Additional honors were presented to Linda M. Tross, Sandra Lundwall Nance, and Sheryl Lee Ralph for their exceptional contributions and service to the arts community.
As an organization founded to serve those who work in the creative community, Actors FCU is grateful for opportunities to celebrate the individuals and organizations that make such a profound impact on the performing arts. Both events served as powerful reminders of the talent, perseverance, and passion that define our community. It was truly an honor to be part of these unforgettable celebrations of achievement, legacy, and the transformative power of storytelling.
